Athletes with a learning disability met in Manchester over the weekend of Friday 16 and Saturday 17 March at the 7th INAS World Indoor Athletics Championships.

The championships, hosted by Mencap Sport and Manchester City Council, took place at the Sportcity Athletics stadium in Manchester. They attracted 80 of the world’s top athletes with a learning disability, representing 12 nations. CoNAC members Kimberley Aspland, Holly Durbridge, Declan Manning and Kimberley Aspland competed in these Championships and all came away with some superb performances.

Holly registered some new personal best in her individual events and then ran a storming leg in the 4 x 200m relay to help the British team gain the silver medal.

Declan competed in the shot and despite being the youngest in the field by some margin accredited himself very well when finishing 7th in a new pb of 10.07m.

Kimberley had a busy weekend running in three events and came away with two medals. In the 800m final she ran a controlled race to finish in 2:37.03 to collect the silver medal. To finish off the weekend she then ran in the 4 x 400m relay team that came away as World Champions.
