On the 27th and 28th of August, eleven CoNAC athletes competed in the England Athletics Under 17 and Under 15 Championships & Age Group Disability Athletics Championships at Bedford International Stadium on the track and in the field putting in some respectable performances against some of the country’s top athletes in their age groups. There were over a thousand athletes taking part in all.
Achieving the time or distance qualification to be able to enter a national competition is something that they can all be proud of and the experience of going through the call room process, training in an athletes warm up location and things such as advertising on their kit is very different from the normal leagues they compete in.
The sprints saw Serena Grace (U15G) in 100m, Louis Albrow (U15B) and Emily Mace (U17W) in 200m and Georgie Bowett (U17W) in 300m.
In the long distance races Millie Solway (U17W) competed in 1500m and Jack White achieved a new PB in 3000m.
In hurdles Mia Hopson (U15G) competed in 75m and Lauren Bradfield (U17W) competed in 80m and achieved a seasons best in 300m.
Modupe Obideyi (U17W) competed in high jump.
Sophie Bishop (U17W) competed in triple jump as well as Wesley Matsuka-Williams (U17M) who came first in his event.
Well done to all our CoNAC athletes and the coaches who supported them as well as the Officials from CoNAC that helped run the meeting, you’ve all made your club proud!
