ATHLETICS 365
VARIED, EXCITING + FUN
When they join the club, our young athletes follow ‘Athletics 365′ – a multi-event, young people development programme for primary aged children (years 5 and 6), which introduces athletes to the fundamental skills of athletics.
Athletics 365 focuses not only on how fast someone runs or how far someone jumps or throws but also, more importantly, on developing the technical skills (‘how’ to run, jump and throw) required to perform at full potential and move like a champion.
Kids will try out a range of events as part of their long-term plan (as recommended by England Athletics), be introduced to competing, and most importantly make friends.

- Wednesday during the summer and Thursday during the winter 5:30 – 7 pm.
- Saturdays yearlong 9am – 10:30 am
You sign up for a term at a time, and you can opt to train on one or both days.
We usually do not train during the Easter and Christmas holidays. We also take a break during early July when the track is unavailable.
Where do you train?
During the winter months (October-February) we are based at City of Norwich School (CNS), Eaton Road Nr4 6PP.

How do you train?
Athletes cover elements of physical conditioning and are introduced to a range of events with a focus on skill development. Athletes work through progressive levels in all the different disciplines, achieving awards along the way, which allows us to track progress and easily identify areas of interest or excellence.

What is expected of me and my child?
Demand for places on our sessions is high. Therefore, once offered a place It is expected that athletes attend the sessions every week. If this is not possible just let us know, as we may be able to make alternative arrangements. If athletes do not attend for 3 consecutive weeks (with no explanation) we will contact, you to ascertain if your child would like to continue with us.
We expect athletes to arrive on time. This ensures that the session can get underway in good time for everyone. Arriving late will often mean that the athlete has missed the warm-up which is crucial part of the session.
The athletes must arrive ready to take part in sport and engage fully in all the activities. If an athlete is injured, you must inform us to ensure that we can support the athlete.
Athletes must come prepared by wearing the appropriate clothing for the weather conditions and bringing a water bottle with them. Trainers are fine to wear, although the athletes can bring spikes if they have them.
All athletes must follow the instructions of the coaches and most show respect towards them and the other athletes. If any athlete is disrupting the group, they may be asked to sit for parts of the session.
What can I expect from the coaches?
The coaches are all DBS checked and have safeguarding and first aid training.
The coaches hold England Athletics coaching qualifications. There are a range of event group coaches, coaches, assistant coaches and those just starting out on their coaching journey.
The coaches aim to deliver structured sessions, using age appropriate equipment, in a safe environment. Small group sizes will be used for the activities involving skill development. Larger group sizes will be used for some activities, e.g. running, relays.
The coaches are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the sport and will aim to impart this on the athletes. They will engage with all the athletes in the group.
