Norfolk Road Race Fixture List – please click here
The road running section at City of Norwich AC welcomes runners of all abilities, from beginners to international standard athletes and everyone in between.
You may want to take part in races or simply run for fitness and enjoyment. Or perhaps you’re just looking for an opportunity to run with a group of other like-minded people. Whatever your motivation is, we’ll be pleased to meet you. Our Road Running Coordinator is Richard Polley – please call him on 07767 205922.
Our Standards scheme helps CoNAC members keep an eye on how they are doing and gives everyone something to aim for. Certificates are presented at the annual CoNAC Road Running Dinner & Presentation Evening in January – please click here to view the current standards.
Where do we meet?
Our weekday road running sessions are based at the Sportspark on the western outskirts of Norwich. We gather on the first floor balcony overlooking the Reception area from 6.15pm ready to run at 6.30pm. If you intend to use the lockers in the Sportspark changing rooms while you’re out running, please remember to bring a suitable padlock with you to secure your belongings.
You are very welcome to come and try us for a few weeks without obligation, but please do contact us before your first session so we know to look out for you.
And when you’ve decided that you’re right for us and we’re right for you, then it’s time to join – please click here for all the details.
At all our road running sessions, you’ll need to wear a road running wrist band which will be issued to you by the CoNAC coach leading the group. Please note that road running from the Sportspark is prohibited at all times other than those shown below.
During the darker months, hi-vis tops are essential – please make sure you wear one at every evening session.
What are the sessions?
On Monday evenings (but not Bank Holidays) at 6.30pm, our Improvers Group meets for a run of 4-5 miles at a modest pace. Newcomers are always accompanied by experienced runners, and when you can run 5k in 30 minutes then you’re ready to run with this group. Please contact Brendan Wilson or call him on 07867 984506 for further details.
Please note – if completing 5k in 30 minutes is a bit of a challenge for you right now, then our Beginners Running Programme could be what you are looking for. You might also like to join in with parkrun in Eaton Park every Saturday morning as a means of getting you going.
On Tuesday evenings at 6.30pm, we meet for a group run of between 6-10 miles. These sessions are designed for those who can cover the distance at a pace somewhere between 6 and 9 minutes per mile, and we split into groups of similar speed to ensure no-one gets left behind. Please contact Richard Polley or call him on 07767 205922 for further details.
On Thursday evenings at 6.30pm, it’s effort sessions. These sessions are specifically designed to improve your speed and help you prepare for race day. During the darker months we use the road network close to the Sportspark for these sessions while in the lighter months we take advantage of the local parks and open spaces. Please contact Richard Polley or call him on 07767 205922 for further details.
Our Sunday morning runs take place from a variety of locations in and around Norwich. The typical distance is 10-12 miles with shorter (or longer) options always available and we try to pick somewhere that’s handy for a coffee at the end. Sunday morning runs are organised via the CoNAC Road Running page on Facebook.
