Six CoNAC athletes attended the Indoor Under 15s & 17s South of England Championships at Lee Valley last weekend (7th & 8th January).
The highlight was Femke Rosbergen on the Sunday (Coach David Pring) winning Silver in the 800metres in a time of 2m.24.32 seconds.
Louis Albrow also ran on the Sunday in his first 400m. He was 3rd in the heats (54.03 seconds), not quick enough to progress through to the final. But he’s still just 14 running in the under 17 age group, wow! Lots to look forward too, wait till we start training for 400 metres when he is 18.
Some of the lads who went down on the Saturday are not yet 15; all acquitted themselves well as 1st year under 17s. Jamie Greenacre in the 60m had two huge personal bests: 2nd 7.34s in the heats, 5th 7.42s in the semi-final. Louie Moreno in the 60m had another huge personal best – 5th in the heats with 7.64 seconds. Alessando Maruca in the heats also had a 60m personal best with 8.57 seconds. Jamie Brown in the 60m heats ran 7.75s.
The future is bright – two years ago we had 10 boys at Under 20s all running under 7.7secs, now we have under 17s at just 15 running these times.
Thanks to coach Mike Utting for this report.
