Last weekend at the Sportshall UK Finals in Manchester, Norfolk became the number one ranked county in the UK for 2017 – our four teams packed with CoNAC athletes.
On Saturday for the second time in five years, Andrea Mayer’s under 15 girls were crowned UK Champions, with five of last years under 13 champions in the squad.
They beat a very strong Surrey by 12 points – all going down to the remaining two relays which they had to win.
The under 15s team was Serena Grace (Gold in the Speed Bounce, 4 Lap and 8 lap Paarlauf), Alice Hill (Gold in the 8 lap paarlauf with Serena), Gold also for Hannah Mayne, Mia Hopson, Alisha Youngs and Simone Ogoba, Eleanor Brown and Amy Money making up the squad.
The under 15 boys fought hard to finish a creditable 7th, with their captain Charlie Williams finishing second overall.
On Sunday it was the turn of the under 13s. The girls, desperate to match their older teammates and retain their title, fought tooth and nail, but finally had to be content with 2nd place behind Surrey,
Medals in all 4 relays, plus gold for Isabelle Moore in the 6 lap and gold again with Eden Harrison in the 8 lap paarlauf. Eden also taking silver in the 4 lap final, bronze for Zoe Powers in the Shot. medals galore in the relays for Grace Daniels, Annie Joynson, Olivier Porter, Louisa Johnstone, Holly Harrison, Amber Scott, Ellis Stewart, Mary Hill, Martha Bennett and Kaia Peiris.
The under 13 boys produced their best ever result in a National final, finishing 5tth. Star of the day was Jake Hart winning gold in the Speed Bounce with 90 in 30 seconds!
