Hot on the heels of a new personal best time in the Frankfurt Marathon in October of last year, Dani Nimmock thought it would be good to try to bring her down half marathon time.
A trip to the USA appealed so she entered the New York City Half Marathon. Flying out as late as Friday for the race on Sunday (19.03.2017) proved to be the right decision with the any effects of jet lag suppressed.
More than 20,000 runners set off at 7.30am in bitterly cold conditions with Dani placed well up the field from the start. Setting a consistent pace of 5.56min per mile she produced a cracking run to clock an impressive 77.36 – a new personal best by almost a minute.
The race statistics show that she crossed the line in 164th place overall and was the 28th lady to finish.
Following her success, a delighted Dani is spending a few days exploring the delights of the Big Apple.
