Under the guidance of husband, Mark, and Pauline Ash, Dani Nimmock’s preparation for the 35th Frankfurt Marathon proved to be spot on! Former English Schools Senior Girls 3000m winner, now in her mid 20’s, Dani in recent time has concentrated her efforts on running a speedy marathon.
At the start of the day her personal best was 2.58.34. Despite the trauma of a protracted house move and heavy duty work schedule, training has been going well and confidence was high. A sub 2.50 was Dani’s target on the day of the race! Passing through the half marathon in 84.50 her target time was very achievable, and so it proved to be. It was a delighted Dani who crossed the finishing line in an impressive 2.48.16 and new personal best by over 10 minutes. She was the 4th British lady to finish and 27th fastest lady overall.
On a point of interest, a number of the Club’s Ladies are really making their mark over the marathon distance!
Ruth Senior currently based in the US has run the distance in a very quick 2.42.50 and is on the comeback trail with a recent marathon win in Albuquerque when posting for her, the modest time of 2.58.34.
Charlotte Rose has a personal best of 2.53.52 and for sure will improve on that next time out.
Rachel Stringer, who as a former double Senior Girls 800m winner clocked 3.00.15 in this year’s London Marathon. She will be looking to dip well under the 3 hour barrier in next year’s race.
The club delights to see its members performing so brilliantly on these world stages. It’s a pity that there isn’t a marathon team event, as this quartet would most certainly impress!
