Personal best performances keep coming for Nick and Tom in another successful weekend at the races
St Mary’s University based Tom Hook fresh from his winning success over 1500m at last weekend’s Loughborough International in which he posted a new personal best time for the distance 3.43.39. This weekend he found himself heading for Belgium to compete in the IFAM International Flanders Meeting to take on again the 1500m distance. We cannot report another winning performance but Tom was pleased to improve his time, albeit by a small margin, to 3.43.16. For Tom it is now a case of onwards and upwards!
Nick Earl just loves to race! There is no doubt that while he is back in the UK on a three week family visit his intention is to compete at every opportunity. Following on from his sub 30 minute 10,000m race last weekend at Highgate, this time around it was a trip to Manchester to tackle the Saturday evening BMC 5,000m track race held at the Sportscity Arena. In a high quality field he was pulled round to a new personal best for the distance when clocked at 14.09.46. This was followed by a well earned night’s sleep after which he lined up on Sunday morning on the elite start of the Manchester 10km Road Race. After a cracking run a delighted Nick crossed the line in an impressive 10th place in an equally impressive time of 29min 43secs. A new personal best for 10km road race.
Post race it was lovely to see the CoNAC stripes making another appearance this time worn by 104th place finisher Johnny Lee. He was being interviewed by TV reporter and Olympic Gold medallist Denise Lewis on his 37.03 performance and his post race impressions of his day in Manchester.
