Athletic Bursary

Our 2016 bursary scheme is now closed and awards have been made

Our athletic bursary scheme rewards exceptional athletic performances by CoNAC members and recognises the training and dedication that is required to achieve excellence in our sport.

It operates on an annual basis with bursaries normally being presented at CoNAC’s Track & Field Awards Evening each year. This is how you qualify for the scheme:

  • First selection for Great Britain & Northern Ireland in the year ending 30 September 2017: £150 (limited to £50 if first national selection has already been achieved; see below)
  • First selection for England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland in the year ending 30 September 2017: £100
  • A top three Power of 10 ranking as at 30 September 2017: 1st = £75, 2nd = £50, 3rd = £25
  • A top three position in the 2017 National Disability Championships: 1st = £75, 2nd = £50, 3rd = £25

Bursary winners are also offered complimentary CoNAC membership for the following membership year (which runs from 1 April to 31 March).

Terms & conditions – first claim members only; applicants must have been a paid-up CoNAC member prior to 1 January in the year of application; applicants must have represented CoNAC on at least three occasions in track & field team events (open events do not count for bursary purposes) and / or cross country championships and / or road relays in the year of application; all bursaries to be spent on ongoing athlete development; maximum bursary payment of £150 per athlete per annum; only one Power of 10 payment per athlete per annum.

In exceptional circumstances, CoNAC members who do not qualifiy for a bursary in a particular year may be recognised in another way. For example, CoNAC member Barbara Parker represented GB & NI in the 3,000m steeplechase at the London 2012 Olympics and was awarded life membership of CoNAC in recognition of this achievement.

The application form can be accessed by clicking here and must be completed and submitted by no later than midnight on the 28th of November. Please note – no late applications, no exceptions, no excuses.
